You need to decide between working at your hospital and making money vs. moving to a small village in Peru to work in a clinic for disabled children, where you would not make very much, if any, money.

Today in class we read an inspiring true story about the possibilities of stem cell research and of people’s endless capacity for compassion.
Choose at least one of the following options:
A– As a patient dying from cancer (non-Hodgkins lymphoma), Warren Sallach’s likeliness of survival are very grim without proper treatment such as a bone marrow or stem cell transplant.
Use empathy to write a blog entry from Warren Sallach’s perspective. What was Sallach thinking when he found out about a stranger who was willing to go through the process of donating stem cells to save his life?
B– Matt Hoffman is a gifted college All-American football player with hopes of joining the NFL. However, he forgoes his championship game in order to donate stem cells to save a stranger’s life.
Use empathy to write a blog entry from Matt Hoffman’s perspective. What was Hoffman thinking when he decided to pass up one of the most important football games of his life in order to help a stranger. What were his motivations?

In the first chapter of Half the Sky, we read a story about two generations of sexual slavery – Meena (mother) and Naina (daughter). It took dangerous years for Meena to rescue her children from prostitution.
